They continued to argue over the many difficult decisions that had to be made over the coming months. It was astonishing to Cass just how much fighting could be done by two people who were supposed to love each other.
Cass had never imagined that months could pass by so quickly. The ups and downs of occupying a fixer-upper seemed to be more heavily weighted on the "downs" side, and he and Yaretzi were having trouble managing their finances. That, combined with the impending arrival of their son, was slowing down the progress of their renovations significantly.
Cass' chance for a new start came sooner than he had anticipated: a home in the old neighbourhood of Newcrest, at a good rent for somebody who didn't mind fixing it up for their landlord.
"This is what we were hoping for!" Yaretzi squealed excitedly as they were driving out from Willow Creek on move-in day. "A home we can make our own!"
The years passed, and life never seemed to get easier for the Little family.
Surprisingly, Catherine found herself quite enjoying this new social dynamic of her unconventional life. The Veggie Mamas were a small, but dedicated bunch, and soon it seemed as very few people in Willow Creek even remembered that Catherine was a bit of an outlier in the community.
